Seneca Gaming Reports Losses

The Seneca Gaming Corporation has reported a quarterly loss of $82.7 million.

In its latest filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the corporation says the loss at the Seneca Allegany Casino was $4.5 million, or 11 percent.

This is the first quarterly loss since the gambling operation began in 2002, when the corporation opened its first casino in Niagara Falls.

Officials are blaming most of the loss on stalled construction projects and the national economy.
