Art Gallery to Hold Auction
The Adams Memorial Art Gallery has announced an auction to be held on October 29th, 2009 starting at 6:00pm at the Adams Memorial Art Gallery located at 600 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, New York.
The auction will finish the gallery’s clean up, after an extremely successful 2 week art and rummage sale, “Although we found good homes for many abandoned pieces of art and house hold items, and raised enough money to make a big difference in our day to day operations this winter, due to the generosity of many county residences and their donations we still have many items to sell” Said Jason Wolfe the Executive Director of the gallery. www.adamsart.org
In addition to auctioning art and other items not sold during the 2 week sale, Susan Wolfe has generously donated 5 additional works to be auctioned. Also Value Home Canters, Wing City Grill and Applebee's Neighborhood Grill have each donated items or gift certificates to be auctioned.
The auction will be run by Ludwig Auction and Reality Company, Chuck Ludwig was professionally trained at the Missouri Auction School in St. Louis, Missouri and has been a full-time instructor there since 1987. Chuck and his wife Kathy are both certified appraisers with the Certified Appraisal Guild of America. www.ludwigauction.com
Proceeds from this auction will be used to refinish the hardwood floors in the main gallery which have not been redone since the gallery opened in 1972. “Now that we’ve repaired the roof, fixed the plaster inside and painted the walls, the condition of the floors is much more apparent. This is a beautiful building and we want the community to be proud of it” says Christopher Schaeffer President of the gallery.
