Bucs' Report from Bradenton

The Pirates announced prior to today’s workout that RHP Joel Hanrahan has a right flexor-pronator strain (elbow). He will be examined by Pittsburgh’s Medical Director, Dr. Patrick DeMeo, today in Bradenton.

Hanrahan and RHP Jose Ascanio (rehabbing from right shoulder surgery) are scheduled to see Dr. James Andrews next Thursday (February 25) in Pensacola, FL. Hanrahan for a second opinion and Ascanio for a check-up.

The Pirates also announced that infielder Ramon Vazquez underwent surgery on his right knee in November, 2009. He is expected to partake in monitored spring training action and is expected to be healthy by Opening Day.

A total of 36 pitchers and catchers are expected to take the fields today at 12:30 for the first workout of the spring.

All pitchers and catchers are undergoing physicals this morning and will have a meeting at noon before heading out to the practice fields.

The following six pitchers are not active due to medical reasons:

Jose Ascanio (rehabbing from arthroscopic surgery on right shoulder on 10/2/09)

Jimmy Barthmaier (rehabbing from right elbow surgery from April 2009)

Neal Cotts (rehabbing from left elbow surgery from July 2009)

Craig Hansen (rehabbing from right upper-mid back nerve damage from July 2009)

Joel Hanrahan (right elbow problems)

Tyler Yates (rehabbing from Tommy John surgery on right elbow on 7/14/09)

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947
