Former All-Star Pitcher Jim Bibby Dies

Former All-Star pitcher Jim Bibby, who started for the Pirates in Game 7 of the 1979 World Series -- the last time Pittsburgh won a World Series championship -- died Tuesday night at age 65.

A close family friend told the Lynchburg News & Advance in Virginia that Bibby, a longtime resident of nearby Madison Heights, Va., died of undisclosed causes at about 9 p.m. ET at Lynchburg General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, and two daughters, Tamara Bibby and Tanya McClain.

"All of us at the Pittsburgh Pirates are deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Bibby," Pirates president Frank Coonelly said in a team release. "Jim was a well-respected member of the Pirates family, both as a player and a coach.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
