Obama Signs PACT Act into Law

President Obama has signed a bill into law that the Seneca Nation says could leave as many as 1,000 people without jobs.

The Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act bars the US Postal Service from shipping cigarettes through the mail.

Seneca Indian Nation business owners say the PACT ACT will kill legal Native American commerce and take 1,000 tobacco-industry jobs in New York with it.

Synergy Business Managment in Salamanca has filed a notice with the state labor department, saying it will lay off an undertermined number of workers effective June 30.

The tobacco-related company which employs 130 people is not affiliated with the Seneca Nation.

I realize that you are just doing what those in power with money are telling you to do, but were'nt you the one who was supposed to stand up to the special interests like Phillip Morris? Iam not a kids and I resent this situation. Taxes that's what this is about. Quit bullying smokers and give us low cost ways to stop smoking.Put your efforts into helping not judging.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947
