SBU's Gray is A-10 Rookie of the Week

St. Bonaventure redshirt freshman Eddie Gray (Pulaski, N.Y./Pulaski Senior) was named the Atlantic 10 Baseball Rookie of the Week on Monday after positing back-to-back wins on the mound last week over a pair of starts.

Gray is the first Bona player to garner a weekly citation from the A-10 this season and just the eighth player in program history to ever earn Rookie of the Week status.

The Pulaski, N.Y. native began the week by going five strong innings in the opener of a doubleheader at Buffalo on Tuesday. Gray limited a potent UB lineup to just four runs en route to his second win of the season. The 6-foot-3 lefty made his second start of the week on Sunday and led the Bonnies to a series-clinching 11-1 win over Saint Joseph’s by going a season-high eight innings. Gray scattered six hits and held the Hawks to just one earned run, while striking out four in the 104-pitch outing.

Gray’s big week marked the first time this season a St. Bonaventure pitcher has won back-to-back starts. He leads the team with three victories, sporting a 3-3 record with a 9.66 ERA. Gray has also worked a team-best 36.1 innings on the season.

St. Bonaventure is back in action on Tuesday, April 20 against Bucknell at Fred Handler Park. Game one of the doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m.
