CCMH Receives HAP Award

Kelly Thompson, senior director, regulatory advocacy, Hospital and Healthysystem Association of Pennsylvania, recently presented Charles Cole Memorial Hospital with HAP’s 2010 Achievement Award.

Thompson noted that CCMH’s entry, “Community Benefit Advisory Committees: Advancing Community Partnerships,” stood out among more than 130 entries HAP received for being innovative and creative. “Nineteen judges representing the public and private sectors, health care and business organizations, the media, and for-profit and nonprofit entities evaluated the entries,” she said. “Your story will be shared in many venues over the course of this year as an example of true dedication and commitment to the community.”

CCMH was recognized in the community outreach and engagement category. The entry outlined the hospital’s creation and expansion of five CBACs within its four county service area. CBAC members represent each of their respective communities and offer feedback to enhance the hospital’s image and, most recently, aided in the development of the strategic plan and inaugural set of Promises and Commitments to the community.

“HAP’s Achievement Awards program began in 1978 as a way to recognize the innovation of Pennsylvania’s health care organizations. Over 30 years later, we continue to celebrate the exceptional leadership, teamwork, and creativity within our hospitals as you work to identify new ways to improve health care delivery, address problems, and meet the host of new challenges that arise in an ever changing health care environment,” Thompson said.

HAP is a statewide membership services organization that advocates for nearly 250 Pennsylvania acute and specialty care, primary care, subacute care, long-term care, home health, and hospice providers, as well as the patients and communities they serve.
