Theobald Gets Two Life Sentences
As expected, Greggory Theobald has been given 2 life sentences without the possibility of parole for killing Megan Konopka and her unborn son last September at the Riddell House.
Theobald was sentenced this afternoon in McKean County Court. The sentences are to be served consecutively.
District Attorney Ray Learn tells WESB and The HERO that he’s satisfied.
“This is a good outcome for everybody involved,” he said, adding that it’s an outcome Konopka’s parents are satisfied with as well.
“It’s a resolution that will take the threat of (Theobald) off the street and see that he dies in jail and never sees the light of day as a free man,” Learn said.
Learn added that even if Theobald went to trial, was convicted and got the death penalty, the case would be tied up in the court system, possibly for decades, in the appeal process.
The case of Thomas Haggie, who is also charged with killing Konopka and the baby, hasn't been resolved yet.
