Dimock Residents to Share $4.1 Million

Cabot Oil & Gas will pay $4.1 million to Susquehanna County residents whose drinking water was contaminated by natural gas from its wells.

The agreement also allows the Houston-based company to start drilling again around Dimock Township, where the contamination occurred. The company expects to start drilling again in the first part of next year.

The Department of Environmental Protection announced the agreement this morning.

Cabot also must continue to work to prevent gas from migrating from its wells, according to DEP Secretary John Hanger.

The 19 Dimock families affected by the contamination will receive amounts equal to twice the value of the homes. Cabot also will provide water treatment systems to the families.

Way to go -- all they had to do is watch Cabot sent into their area, watch them become disoriented from personal demand-and-attack calls, make note of affected performance and gas pollution, let the senders write up a lawsuit and bingo! more carrots in the grocery bin.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
