Luminite Coming to Bradford

Luminte officials have made their decision about moving their company -- and they're coming to McKean County.

Luminite has been working out of the former St. Patrick's School in Salamanca since the May 2010 fire at the former Fancher Furniture plant destroyed the company offices on Rochester Street.

They had been considering a move to either Cattaraugus County or McKean County. Bradford Office of Economic and Community Development Executive Director Sara Andrews confirmed Tuesday evening that the company will be relocating to the Lafferty Hollow Industrial Park.

"We're absolutely thrilled to have them come to our community," Andrews said.

They will be building a 45,000 square foot facility within the next few months. Kessel Construction of Bradford will be the general contractor.

When the company is up and running at the Lafferty Hollow site, they will be bringing 60 new employees to McKean County.

Andrews said she believes the teamwork displayed between local and state officials in the effort to bring Luminite to Bradford is what swayed the company.

"We're just very pleased to know they're coming here and they are going to be an excellent addition to our community," Andrews said.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947
