DA Ray Learn Announces Re-Election Bid

Ray Learn will seek reelection as District Attorney of McKean County. Learn was elected as District Attorney in 2009 to fill the remainder of the term vacated when then District Attorney John Pavlock was appointed as Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.

As District Attorney, and head of the McKean County Drug Task Force, Learn led the Task Force to its most active year ever. In 2010, the Drug Task Force conducted 81 operations, arrested 78 people, and seized approximately $30,000 worth of illegal drugs and over $40,000 in cash and vehicles.

Learn has successfully prosecuted several high profile cases, including two capital murder cases. In 2010, the District Attorney’s Office prosecuted more than 700 cases, including arsons, assaults, thefts, and sexual assaults.

Learn also developed and implemented the McKean County Law Enforcement Series which provides free monthly training to all police departments in McKean County.

Prior to being elected District Attorney, Learn was an assistant district attorney in McKean County since 2007. Before becoming a prosecutor, Learn worked for USIS, LLC, a large security and information services contractor to the federal government.

Learn earned a bachelors degree in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University and a Juris Doctor from the Duquesne University School of Law. Learn is admitted to practice law in all Courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Learn is currently treasurer of the McKean County Bar Association, Vice President of the Keating Sportsmen’s Association, a Director of the Bradford Township Lions Club, a member of the Seneca Law Enforcement Association, McKean County Criminal Justice Advisory Board, and the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association. Learn is also a volunteer Hunter Education Instructor and a religious education instructor.

Learn resides in Smethport with his wife Carolee and his two young children.

How about the real property, like buildings/real estate, being seized too when drug deals are prosecuted? Slumlords & Drug Dealers/Users should be forced by the courts to forfeit their property if drug busts are going on there! Come On Mr. DA, use ALL the law/court powers legally available to WIPE OUT these insects. Anything LESS is an INJUSTICE to the Decent, Law Abiding, Tax Paying, VOTING, Citizens of McKean County!
