High Speed Chase in Bradford
UPDATE: A Bradford man accused of trying to run over City Police Chief Chris Lucco Wednesday afternoon is in jail.
43-year-old Jeffrey Frampton allegedly tried to hit Lucco with his Jeep while they were in front of the police station. He then took police on a high-speed chase, which you read about here just minutes after it happened.
The incident started with a domestic dispute in front of the police station and ended when Frampton’s vehicle broke down as he was trying to drive into the woods above Cornen Street.
No was hurt during the chase.
Frampton is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer (felonies), recklessly endangering another person and DUI (misdemeanors) and several summary offensesHis bail is set at $75,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in front of District Judge Dominic Cercone.
I don't know where or why the chase started but at around 2:20 p.m. a tannish colored Jeep Cherokee-like vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed passed a car (driven by me) near the corner of Williams and Mill streets and turned onto Mill toward East Main Street. At the first set of railroad tracks, the driver worked up a blinding cloud of dust then sped toward East Main with a city police car in pursuit. Near the top of Mill Street, the driver went into the opposite lane of travel, passed two vehicles that were stopped for a red light, went through the red light and turned left onto East Main. Another police car joined the pursuit at this time. On East Main, I saw one of the police cars driving down off a side street. At the intersection of Kendall and East Main, a third police vehicle turned onto East Main, then drove up a side street.
That's all I know right now. I'll pass on more info as I get it.
