Owens Elected to AMA House of Delegates

Jill Owens, M.D. has been elected as an alternate delegate to the American Medical Association House of Delegates by her peers at the Pennsylvania Medical Society during their recently held annual meeting.

The AMA House of Delegates is the principal policy making body of the AMA. The forum represents the views and interests of member physicians who meet twice per year. Policy focus is given to health, medical, professional and governance matters, as well as broad principles within the scope of AMA business activities. Over 500 voting delegates serve alongside a corresponding number of alternate delegates and are selected by the organization they represent.

Dr. Owens said she is “excited by the opportunity to serve the American Medical Association in shaping the direction of health care in the future.” Dr. Owens has served as the McKean County delegate to the Pennsylvania Medical Society since 2001. In addition, she served as the Pennsylvania Young Physician Section Delegate to the AMA from 2008 through 2010, as well as serving as chair of the Pennsylvania Young Physician Section from 2009 through 2011.

“Dr. Owens brings tremendous leadership to both hospital systems in working with her peers and patients, and will be an asset to the American Medical Association and the future of healthcare” said William F. Mills, M.D., senior vice president of Quality and Professional Affairs at Upper Allegheny Health System.

Dr. Owens serves as a board member of the Upper Allegheny Health System as well as the Bradford Regional Medical Center, and for the Board of Directors at Olean General Hospital. Dr. Owens provides comprehensive care at Bradford Family Medicine located at 14 North 3rd Street in Bradford.
