Accused Hatchet-Wielder Pleads Not Guilty
An Olean man accused of swinging two hatchets as he approached a Salamanca house back in May was arraigned today in Cattaraugus County Court, and pleaded not guilty.
37-year-old Keith Spruce allegedly walked up to the front porch of house where seven people, including children, were sitting, and started swinging the hatchets. Police say the people feared for their safety as Spruce allegedly chopped up the front steps with the hatchets.
He was indicted by a grand jury on seven counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, seven counts of second-degree menacing and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
The matter has been adjourned for motions.
