Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course Named
One of Golfweek's 'Best Casino Courses'

LEWISTON, NY – In only its second season in existence, Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course has received another impressive honor: Golfweek magazine named it one of the “Best Casino Courses” in the U.S. The news is featured in the magazine’s just-released January 2012 issue.

Seneca Hickory Stick is one of the newest courses listed among Golfweek’s top 50 casino courses and is one of four recognized from New York State. The $25 million course, designed by world-renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones II and owned by Seneca Gaming Corporation, celebrated its first full season of golf this past year after initially opening on July 2, 2010. Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course is located in Lewiston, NY, just minutes away from Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel.

“Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course is an essential part of the entertainment mix from Seneca Gaming Corporation,” said Cathy Walker, president and CEO of Seneca Gaming Corporation. “It has quickly become a premier golf destination in the Northeast, and this recognition by Golfweek affirms our confidence in the course.”

According to Fran Roach, general manager of Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course, the honor further identifies the course as a must-play among avid golfers. “This is a testament to our dedicated professionals at the course,” he said. “Together, we prepare every day to deliver an exceptional golf experience to every guest, every time.”

Just one year ago, Seneca Hickory Stick was voted No. 6 “Best New Golf Course” by Golf Magazine. That publication and Golfweek are considered two of the gold-standard publications by golf readers.

To begin the 2011 season, Seneca Hickory Stick opened a new club house and restaurant that overlook the links-style shared green and lake at the ninth and 18th holes. The 257 acres of challenging terrain includes picturesque Scottish-looking heather grass that accentuates fairways and greenside bunkers, as well as five sets of tee boxes that provide golfers a choice in length and difficulty from 5,395 to 7,026 yards. Seneca Hickory Stick is open to the public but has the feel of a private club, with “member for a day” service levels and pricing that includes golf cars, greens fees and use of the practice facility prior to play.

Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course is already booking events for 2012 and is an ideal venue for golf tournaments, nonprofit fundraisers and business outings. The award-winning course is operated by KemperSports, one of the world’s leading golf management and development companies, which manages an extensive portfolio of upscale clubs in 28 states, Puerto Rico and Central America.
