Soccer Players Receive Postseason Honors

Three University of Pittsburgh at Bradford soccer players recently received postseason honors for their performances this past fall. Men’s soccer player Kyle Lewis was tabbed a National Soccer Coaches Association of American Academic All-East honorable mention pick, and women’s soccer player Alisa Cornell was named an ECAC South All-Stars first-team selection while teammate Linsey Stack was a second-team pick.

Lewis, a senior from North East, Pa., was a second-team All-AMCC pick in 2011 while anchoring a defense that ranked third in the conference in goals allowed per game (1.57) and shutouts (4). He had an assist against Keuka and recorded 10 shots, six of which were on goal.

A history/political science major, Lewis has achieved a 3.53 GPA in the classroom and is a three-time Academic All-Conference team selection. As a junior, he was tabbed Pitt-Bradford’s male representative on the conference All-Academic team, which recognizes the top male and female scholar-athlete from each participating institution.

Cornell, a junior goalkeeper, put together one of the top seasons in AMCC and Pitt-Bradford history while earning first-team all-conference honors. She posted a record of 13-3-2 in net for the Panthers. Cornell ranked third nationally in save percentage with a mark of .912, a new AMCC record, and 14th nationally in goals against average (.445), tying her for the fourth-best mark in conference history. Her 10 shutouts on the year ties her for second all-time in league history as well.

The Philadelphia native led the conference in goals against, save percentage, shutouts and shutouts per game. She was named AMCC Defensive Player of the Week four times, including three straight at one point, and ECAC Division III South Region Player of the Week.

Stack, a junior defender, helped anchor a defense that surrendered just eight goals all season, and ranked second nationally in save percentage (.916), ninth in goals against (.428), and 12th in shutout percentage (.667). The Philadelphia native was tied for third on the squad in total points with seven and second in goals scored with three.
