Smethport's Phalon Earns a Bona Win

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The St. Bonaventure softball team (1-1) plated three runs on three errors in its final half inning to earn a two-game split at the Upstate Classic.

Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth, the Bonnies took advatage of Detroit miscues to steal the 6-3 win. Junior Jessenia Andujar, who notched the Bonnies' only hit in a 3-0 loss to Ohio to open the day, advanced to third on the innings first error and came around one batter later when Christine Watson reached on a wild pitch after striking out. Watson later scored from first on another outfield error, with freshman Grace Rooney plating the final marker on an infield boot.

Senior Diana Phalon of Smethport, Pa., (1-0) registered the win and Jen Sansano the three-out save (1) after Phalon fanned eight through six innings of work.

Sansano (0-1) allowed just one earned run in the loss to Ohio, but four Bona errors spoiled a four hit outing.

St. Bonaventure continues play today with games against Ohio and host S.C. Upstate.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947
