Dorothy 'Dotty' West

Dorothy L. "Dotty" West, 82, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and dedicated nurse, of 26 Lake Circle Dr. Bradford, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 at The Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born September 19, 1929, in Salamanca, she was a daughter of the late William and Louise (Moran) Shinners.

On December 27, 1950 in St. Patrick's Church in Salamanca she married Lawrence G. West who survives.

She was a 1947 graduate of Salamanca High School and a 1950 graduate of the Bradford Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a member of St. Bernard Church, a charter member of the Professional Womens Club of Bradford and the Bradford Ecumenical Home Auxillary.

She worked as a registered nurse at Bradford Hospital for over 45 years on the second floor and prior to her retirement she worked as an OB-GYN nurse.

Surviving in addition to her husband Larry of 61 years, are three daughters: Susan (Jim) Yeager of Bradford, Ann (Terry) Story of Charlotte TN, Karen (Ozzie) Morgan of Washington ME, 4 grandchildren: Starr (Melvin Isaac) Pugrant, Michael Pugrant, Kerry Ann Richards and Kelli Lott, 3 great grandchildren: Aaron Wygant, Raven Richards, and Larry Lott, two brothers, Bill (Marcia) Shinners of Toledo OH, Jerry (Marian) Shinners of Salamanca, several nieces and nephews and her good friend and neighbor Chris Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents one brother Donald Shinners and two nephews Pat and Sean Shinners.

Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday April 3, 2012 from 3-5pm & 7-9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 East Main St. where a prayer service will be held Wednesday at 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Bernard Church, with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Mausoleum entombment will be in in St. Bernard Cemetery.
