Mario Magnella

Mario A. Magnella, 56, of 145 Looker Mountain Trail, formerly of Williams Street, passed away, Monday, April 2nd, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 5, 1955, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Anthony Magnella and Giselle (Meissner) Magnella who survives.

He was a 1973 graduate of Bradford Central Christian High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Duquesne University, graduating with honors in 1977.

Mr. Magnella was the owner and operator of the Broaster for several years, then worked as a Price Control Manager for the former Jamesway. He also worked for several area paint stores.

He was a lifetime member of St. Bernard Church, a member of the Italian American Progressive Club and the former Carnegie Library Book Club. He loved gardening, nature walks in the woods and classical music. His passion was refurbishing old cars and trucks. He also enjoyed assisting the elderly with yard care and snow shoveling.

Surviving in addition to his loving mother, he is survived by a devoted sister, Adrianne Magnella of Bradford; an uncle, Bernd Meissner of Downers Grove, Il and several cousins. In addition to his father who died October 2, 1985, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Rose Magnella and Willi Friedrich and Erna Meissner.

Family will be receiving friends from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, Friday, April 13, 2012 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. South Ave., where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, April 14, 2012 followed by 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernard Church, with Rev. Raymond Gramata, Pastor as celebrant. Committal services and burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
