PSP: Apartment Fire was Arson
The fire that damaged an apartment in Emporium Monday afternoon was intentionally set.
State Police Fire Marshal David Surra says accelerant material was used to start the fire inside a refrigerator in the basement apartment at 410 West. Allegany Avenue. The fire spread to the ceiling and walls, but was contained to the basement apartment.
The tenant, 59-year-old Kenneth LaBrozzi, was not home at the time of the fire. All other occupants of the building were evacuated, and there were no injuries.
The building is owned by Joseph DiBello. Damage is estimated at $25,000.
