Spring Cleanup in Bradford Starts Saturday

In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), and in conjunction with The Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania, community volunteers will be cleaning up litter in the City of Bradford.

The event will run from 10:00 am until noon on Saturday April 21st. This effort is to remove litter and trash from the entire City of Bradford. In an effort to make this event as beneficial for the community as possible the City of Bradford has also committed to holding the Spring Cleanup effort to coincide with this volunteer effort.

Spring Clean-up items must be less than 4 feet long and weigh less than 40 pounds and should be set curbside on your regular pick day. There will be a $10 charge for white goods and pick up should be scheduled by calling 362-3884 ext. 21; yard waste will not be part of this pick-up. New this year will be an electronics recycling event.

Evolution E-Cycling will be on hand to accept electronic items on Saturday the 21st between 10AM and 4PM at the drop off location/cleanup headquarters. For more than 30 years, people have used personal computers and electronic devices in their everyday lives. During this time, outdated, obsolete, and end of life electronic devices have been discarded in landfills or exported to developing nations where they are processed in a manner that is unsafe to workers and detrimental to the environment. Evolution E-Cycling will be accepting FREE of charge: Desktops & Laptops, CRT & LCD monitors, cell phones & chargers, servers & UPS Batteries, modems/Routers/Networking equipment, printers/Scanners & fax machines, house & office phones, televisions, toner & Ink Jet Cartridges, keyboards & mice, fans & copiers, extension cords, docking stations, DVD/VCR Players, power boards & supplies, CD Players/Radios, cameras & cable boxes, AC Adapters, wires & cables, ballasts (No PCB’s), speakers & stereo equipment, CD Rom/Floppy, Lithium Ion, NiCd & NiMH Batteries, & car Batteries. Grace Lutheran Church, 79 Mechanic Street, will serve as cleanup headquarters/drop off location and provide an area for cleanup participants to take a break, grab a light snack and pick up gloves, vests and trash bags.

“Everyone wants to live, work, and relax in a safe, clean and green community. The clean-up event is a direct result of efforts by our Elm Street Safe, Clean and Green Committee. The initiatives in the Project Pride Neighborhood are beneficial to all community residents and it is up to everyone to make it possible to improve the quality of life for the entire City of Bradford," said Lisa Keck, Project Pride Elm Street Manager

Pick it up PA days run from April 21st through May 7th. Since the inception of this event in 2004, over 1.2 million volunteers have picked up 61 million pounds of litter and waste, 106,000 miles of road have been cleaned, and 76,000 trees, bulbs, and flowers have been planted. Come join your friends, family and neighbors on Saturday as we “Pick It Up, PA!”
