Larry Richmond

Larry A. Richmond, 72, of 5 Amm Street, Bradford, passed away Sunday, May 6th, at The Pavilion at BRMC.

Larry was born in Bradford, on April 18, 1940, he was a son of the late Robert and Jean (Kellgren) Richmond.

On July 9, 1966, in Bradford he married Geneva L. "Jean" (Button) Richmond who died February 2, 2004.

Mr. Richmond was a 1958 graduate of Bradford High School. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in business. In his lifetime he worked many different places in Bradford including Zippo, Case and most recently the Bradford Landmark Society.

He was an avid historian and was an expert in all things "Bradford". He was genealogist and a historian. He was an expert on the Civil War Veterans of Bradford, the history behind Zippo Mfg., W.R. Case & Sons and also an expert on the architecture of the buildings in Bradford.

Mr. Richmond was past member of the Bradford Landmark Society, past President of the McKean County Historical Society, President of the McKean Genealogical Society and had been the national editor of the Wooden Nickel Collectors Newsletter. He was credited for creating a huge database of Bradford history and The Bradford Era once wrote an article on him calling him "Mr. Bradford"

He is survived by a son, Todd Richmond, of Waterford, a granddaughter, Jade Ueblhear, of Bradford, two sisters, Margaret Kaziska, of Port Allegany; Kathryn Elrod, of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, wife and a one year old son Scott Roy Richmond in 1972.

Family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. South Ave. where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 10, 2012 with Rev. W. LeRoy Beckes. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
