Bike Rider Facing Drug Charges

A bicycle ride helped to land a Gowanda man in jail.

State troopers say 36-year-old Gerald Redford II was riding his bike on Union Street in Gowanda when they stopped him to talk about an incident earlier in the day in Collins. While speaking with Redford, troopers felt he was impaired and soon learned he had more than 70 Oxycodone pills in a plastic baggie.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell, both felonies, and sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $1,500 cash bail.
