DMAP Permits Available
This 2012 hunting season, the Kinzua Quality Area (also referred to as the Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative) in McKean County will be offering 905 DMAP permits for its three DMAP units. Unit 1981 will have 200 DMAP permits, Unit 1996 will have 288 permits, and Unit 135 will have 417 permits.
Hunters may buy the permits directly from local licensing agents or on-line from the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
To buy DMAP permits from a local agent, simply specify the DMAP Unit you would like a permit for. You may apply for up to two permits in any DMAP unit, and will need a valid Pennsylvania hunting license.
To buy DMAP permits from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, go to their on-line store, The Outdoor Shop (https://www1.pa.wildlifelicense.com/start.php), and follow the easy directions on how to get a permit.
DMAP permits are additional licenses for harvesting antlerless deer; hunters with regular antlerless licenses may also apply for DMAP permits. Maps for the location of each unit can be found and printed from the website, www.kqdc.com. For additional information, please contact Collin Koers (ckoers@fs.fed.us/ 814-728-6142) for Unit 1981, Ken Kane (kenkane@verizon.net
/814-598-0205) for Unit 1996, or Delores Gerner (dgerner@forestinvest.com/ 814-887-5238) for Unit 135.
The Kinzua Quality Area is 74,000 acres of public hunting in Northwest Pennsylvania where science-guided management is producing quality deer and quality habitat. In ten years of liberal hunting seasons, deer body weights and antler characteristics have increased greatly. Habitat for deer and other wildlife is returning to once great levels, and foresters are able to harvest trees without fencing areas to promote reforestation. This wildlife and forestry success story is the work of the Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative. Visit the KQDC website at www.kqdc.com to learn more.
