John Holec
John E. Holec, 96, of 58 Linwood Ave. Bradford, passed away Sunday, July 1st, 2012 at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born September 19, 1915, in Newark, NJ, he was a son of the late Andrew and Tessi (Ferina) Holec.
On July 26, 1942 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wilcox, he married Marie T. (Elinski) Holec, who died on September 12, 2002.
Mr. Holec attended schools in Ludlow. He had worked for the Civilian Conservation Camps for five years, then for Buffalo Bolts and later for Dresser Mfg. as a machinist retiring in 1980 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Senior Center and also a member of the Senior Center Band where he played the harmonica.
Surviving is a daughter, Dianne Donohoe, of Bradford, four grandchildren; Blake Donohoe, Fran Blevens and twins Sherry Byland and Larry Donohoe, four great grandchildren; Larry Butler, Michael Butler Cortney Donohoe and Blake Donohoe, two great great grandchildren Maci and Dawson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, John E. "Sonney" Holec who died March 9, 2003, six brothers and four sisters.
At the family's request there will be no public visitation. Friends wll be invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at a later date and time to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to Bradford Area Senior Center or charity of the donor's choice .
