PennDOT Ready for Super Storm

PennDOT District 2 is prepared for possible severe weather being forecast for central and northern Pennsylvania, and motorists are advised to plan in advance as well.

Forecasts for next week call for heavy rain, strong winds and snow in some parts of District 2, which includes Cameron, Clearfield, Clinton, Centre, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin and Juniata counties. In some areas of the district, 4 to 6 inches of rain is expected Sunday through Tuesday. The northern portions of the district could see some accumulating snow.

Drivers should be ready to encounter a variety of weather conditions, depending upon their planned travel. Travelers should also monitor weather forecasts as conditions can change rapidly.

Even if snow does not fall in much of the region, there is the potential for downed trees and utility lines. Sustained winds of 25-35 miles per hour are forecast Monday afternoon into Tuesday. Gusts in central Pennsylvania could reach 50-60 miles per hour. Because of the possibility of weather event next week, drivers are reminded to plan ahead for the winter driving season. A winter emergency kit should contain the following:

• Flashlight and batteries
• Battery-operated radio
• Jumper cables
• Cell phone and charger
• Snow shovel
• Matches and candles
• First aid supplies
• Extra warm clothing and gloves
• Blanket
• Ice scraper
• Sand
• Bottled water
• Non-perishable food

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Tom Corbett today announced that agents from the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation, assisted by local police officers from across Erie County and the Pennsylvania State Police, are in the process of arresting 41 suspects linked to a nearly $5 million drug organization operating in and around Erie. Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947
