SBU's Curry Named A-10 Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – St. Bonaventure sophomore Molly Curry has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week after scoring a game-winning goal and a game-tying goal last weekend to propel the Bonnies into this week's A-10 Championship.

With just two minutes left in the second overtime period against Massachusetts on Friday (Oct. 26), Curry put the game-winner in the back of the net for a 1-0 victory. On Sunday (Oct. 28) against Rhode Island, with the Bonnies playing with just 10 players for the entire second half, the Ransomville, N.Y., native tied the game in the 61st minute. Shannon Van Riper scored 16 minutes later, clinching a berth in the A-10 Championship for Bonaventure.

The award is the first of Curry's career, and second for a Bonaventure player this year as Van Riper claimed POW honors on Sept. 24.

Of Curry's four goals this season, three have been game-winners, while the fourth was a game-tying goal. The forward finished the regular season ranked second on the team in goals (4) and third on the club in points (8).

With the two victories last weekend, St. Bonaventure earned the No. 5 seed in the eight-team tournament and will face No. 4 Butler in the quarterfinal round, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 1 at Rhode Island's Soccer Complex.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947
