Impersonating a State Trooper

Charges are pending against a Johnsonburg resident who called the Elk County Prison pretending to be a trooper with Kane-based state police.

The real state police say a corrections officer was immediately suspicious, and contacted them. The called was tracked to a Johnsonburg home.

Police arrested a “known male” in an alley outside the house and he admitted to making the call.
