Man Pleads Guilty to Accident That
Critically Injured St. Marys Woman
A St. Marys man who hit and critically injured a woman with his SUV and didn’t stop to help her will spend 90 days in jail, and 90 days on house arrest.
41-year-old Dean Schatz pleaded guilty to accidents involving death or personal injury.
At around 3:15 a.m. on July 28 in St. Marys Schatz hit Natasha Schmitz, leaving her with a broken pelvis, a hole in her leg, a broken arm and kidney and liver damage. She spent a month in the hospital and another month in physical therapy.
At first Schatz claimed his SUV had been stolen, but later admitted to being the driver who hit Schmitz.
