William Coleman

William R. Coleman, 81, of 82 Rodgar Lane, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at The Pavilion at BRMC.

Born July 26, 1931 in DuBois, he was a son of the late Richard Edward and Dorothy (Helmer) Coleman.

He was raised in Emporium by Bert and Frances Shoup, and graduated from Cameron County High School.

In July of 1956, he married Betty J. Kindblom, who passed away June 5, 1990.

Mr. Coleman enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 4, 1950. He served in Korea, was decorated four times, and honorably discharged on December 22, 1954.

An electrician by trade, he worked as a lineman for a number of years before he founded Coleman’s Electrical Service in Smethport, which he owned and operated for more than three decades.

Mr. Coleman was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors. An expert fly fisherman, he tied his own flies and was featured in numerous articles. He enjoyed night fishing for native brown trout in the mountain streams of Cameron County. He also enjoyed his many hunting and fishing trips to Canada, including British Columbia and Labrador’s Minipi River.

He is survived by three children, Deborah (Larry) Tanner of Bradford, William C. Coleman, also of Bradford and Susan (Randall) Anderson of Smethport; brothers and a sister from out of the area; five grandchildren, Sheri Tanner, Larry Tanner, Shawn Coleman, Tanya Coleman and Jason Anderson, and one great grandson, Tevin Watkins. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two infant sons.

At the request of the family there will be no public visitation and funeral services will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Rifle Association, Trout Unlimited or to the charity of the donor's choice.
