Water Rescue in Chautauqua County

A man was rescued from Hanford Bay in Lake Erie Saturday morning after his kayak flipped over.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office got the report of a man in the water near the Town of Hanover at about 9:35 a.m. 46-year-old Raymond Adamczyk of Hamburg was hunting ducks when the kayak turned over about 500 yards from shore.

A Sunset Bay jet ski was launched and Adamczyk was brought to shore.

Adamczyk was wearing a life vest, and sheriff’s deputies say they don’t believe he was in the water for very long. He was taken by ambulance to Lake Shore Health Care Center in Irving to be checked out.
