Man Falls Asleep at Wheel, Crashes Car

An Emporium man fell asleep at the wheel of his car earlier this week, causing it to hit a fire hydrant in the borough.

Police say 22-year-old Andrew Beck was on East Third Street at just after 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon when his car hit the road sign at the intersection with Locust Street. The car then hit the fire hydrant in the same intersection.

Beck was cited for careless driving.
