Southern Tier Symphony to Perform
'Favorites with Flute' Sunday at UPB
Tickets for the event are $20 for the public and free for all students. The program will include works by Schubert, Vivaldi, Foss and an encore performance of the original commissioned work by local artist Jacob Pleakis.
Robinson founded PanorĂ¡micos, a prize-winning mixed chamber ensemble that is the ensemble in residence at Case Western Reserve University.
She has risen to national prominence as a versatile flutist who has performed with the symphony orchestras of Chicago, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Buffalo and Kansas City, the Cleveland Opera, and the Cleveland Orchestra.
Robinson teaches flute and coaches chamber music at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Case Western Reserve University and Ithaca College. She founded the Greater Cleveland Flute Society and has commissioned, premiered and recorded many new solo and chamber works for flute, piccolo and alto flute.
The symphony is directed by John Whitney, who has led orchestras on three continents, including those in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Venezuela. He has performed with or conducted a host of platinum artists, including Luciano Pavarotti, Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, Henry Mancini, Cab Calloway, Liberace and Doc Severinson.
