Jo Jones

Josephine W. "Jo" Jones, 93, formerly of 43 Pearl Street, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Bradford Ecumenical Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 5, 1920, in Bradford she was a daughter of the late Michael J. and Rhea (May) Kennelly.

On September 25, 1943 in Bradford she married Homer A. Jones, who died on September 30, 1990.

Mrs. Jones was a 1939 graduate of Bradford High School. She had work from 1941 to 1943 in the munitions plant in Eldred and at JJ Newberry's during the Holiday Season.

She was a member of the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Eagles Club #2432 and the Moose Lodge Auxillary, Past Grand Grayback and Chief Grand Grayback of the Fire Flies, Cootiettes Club #85, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Mrs. Jones volunteered at several Veteran Hospitals, especially in Butler, Erie, and Soldiers and Sailors hospital. She helped wrap Christmas gifts and received numerous citations.

Surviving are three daughters, Karen (Lew Sherwood) Dent of Eldred and Rhea May (Clark) Bradford and Dorie (Jon) Meabon, and one son, Mike Jones, all of Bradford, 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren, one sister, Virginia Goodman, of WI, and one brother, William Kennelly, of WI, several nieces and nephews and two God Children, She was preceded in death by her parents, and stepmother Iris Beavis.

Family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. David Bunnell, pastor of the Hill United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
