Scott Plowman

Henry Scott Plowman, 44, of 172 Elm St., Bradford, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born February 17, 1969, in Greensburg, he was a son of the late Henry John Plowman and Linda R. (Stough) Plowman, who survives.

He attended Derry Schools and completed his professional firefighter training at the Firefighter Academy in Maryland in 1992.

He worked in Bladensburg, Montgomery County, and Rockville Fire Department in MD. He was a paid firefighter for companies in South Conway, SC and Washington, DC for ten years with Engine Companies 1, 16, and 32, and was a first responder at the 911 attack on the Pentagon. He worked for a private fire fighting firm in Iraq for a year and then for the City of Bradford Fire Department for the last five years.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Derry, the Derry Rod and Gun Club, the Eagle's Club in Bradford and the VFW in Austin. He was an avid gardener with awesome gardens. He loved the outdoors so that he could hunt or fish every season of the year. As well as many sports playing baseball, hockey, football, golf, and snow skiing. He was on the ski patrol at Seven Springs Resort. In his earlier days he was a guide in Colorado. He was a die hard Steeler and Penguins fan as well as enjoying his "Coors". He also enjoyed his cats. He lived his life to the fullest every day and truly enjoyed going to work as a firefighter as he loved his job and his brother firefighters through his career.

In addition to his mother Linda of Millwood, he is survived by a sister, Rhonda (Ron) Charles, of Sylvania, OH, one brother, Robert Von Plowman, of Friday Harbor, WA, his fiancee, Helen Bogenschutz of Bradford, an adopted step brother Tim Gump of Derry, four nieces all of Ohio - Kristin, Jessica, Allison and Ashley, two great nephews, Tyson and Levi, one great niece, Valencia, one great niece very soon, Leah and one cousin Craig Sell of Millwood. He was preceded in death by his father and one niece, Megan.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday January 29, 2014 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 372 East Main St., Bradford. Friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 30, 2014 in St. Bernard Church, with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as celebrant. Burial will be in Hillview Cemetery in Greensburg.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Bradford City Fire Department.
