Police Looking for Cop Impersonator

Police are looking for a person who has been impersonating a law enforcement officer, and who approached a young Smethport woman early Saturday morning.

According to a fax sent to WESB, the person activated blue and red strobe lights in a light-colored 4-door sedan while behind a vehicle driven by Abigayle Wilber on Route 46. She pulled over, and then the imposter, who was wearing a ski mask, approached her vehicle, walked around it, and then went back to his car.

The person is described as slender and tall. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to called Kane-based state police at 778-5555.
