Williamsport Man Who Took Police on
Interstate Chase Sentenced in Catt County

A man who took police on a high-speed chase from Olean to Tack’s Inn will spend the next 5 years on probation after being sentenced in Cattaraugus County Court.

On the night of July 13 Olean City Police stopped 23-year-old Douglas Goodwin of Williamsport for a minor traffic violation but then, police say, he hit the police car and sped off.

Olean City, Bradford City, Bradford Township and New York State Police were also chasing Goodwin. Pennsylvania State Police put up a tire deflation device at the intersection of routes 219 and 59. Police say after the tires on Goodwin’s car deflated he kept going but was eventually taken into custody.

He was first taken to jail in McKean County, where he pleaded guilty to several charges and then waived extradition to Cattaraugus County.

It sounds like Cattaraugus County is turning into McKean County. Since when does anyone deserve a probation sentence for hit and running a police car and then taking off in a 40 mile high speed pursuit? How many lives (police and civilian) were placed in danger for this punk's defiance of public decency? Way to go justice system.
