Jewelry Stolen at Chautauqua Institution

A home health care assistant is accused of stealing a bag of gold jewelry from a home at Chautauqua Institution where she was working.

Sheriff’s deputies say 33-year-old Sheryl Barton of Fredonia took the bag containing rings, earrings and other pieces of jewelry about a month ago. Deputies along with Institution police investigated and found Barton with two pieces of the jewelry.

She is charged with felony grand larceny, and is awaiting further court proceedings.
