Theft Charged Filed Against
Suspect in Whitaker Killing
One of the men facing federal charges in connection to the death of violinist Mary Whitaker last week is now facing a state charge of grand larceny.
Sheriff’s deputies say 43-year-old Jonathan Conklin, a homeless man who had been living in Erie, went to Murdock’s Family Restaurant in Sherman on August 3 and stole $1,150.
He was found in Erie on Friday while police were investigating Whitaker's death.
He is being held without bail in Buffalo.
