Waldameer Adding Wave Pool

Waldameer will be getting even wetter and wilder.

The park will be expanding again, and will soon have the biggest wave pool in the tri-state area, with a capacity for about 1,000 people.

Park owner Paul Nelson says the $10 million expansion will also include a food concession building, a new restroom facility, more tickets booths to ease the backlog on busy weekends, new lockers for the water park, and more than 1,000 new lounge chairs for the wave pool and eating areas.

Nelson said he hopes construction of the wave pool will start the day after Labor Day and that it would be ready for swimmers in May or early June – depending on what winter’s like.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
