Man Chokes, Beats, Threatens Ex

A Bradford man is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home, choking her until she was unconscious – twice – and kicking her in the head.

Court papers say Michael Byerly was inside the victim’s Willard Avenue home when she got there at 12:30 on the morning of April 11. He yelled at her, grabbed her by the hair, threw her onto a coffee table and started choking her.

While choking her until she was unconscious, he kicked her in the head. When she came to, her choked her again and then kicked her in the face, spit on her and threatened to kill her. He also stomped on her right foot before leaving the home.

Byerly was scheduled for a preliminary hearing today, but that’s been moved to May 6. He remains in McKean County Jail on $50,000 bail.
