Susan Lee Vannette-Sinclair, 70, of 24 Lawrence Ave., passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at her residence. Born October 23, 1944, in Kane, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Genevieve (Welch) and Vannette. A 1962 graduate of Bradford High School, she also graduated from Rochester Business Institute. She lived in Rochester, NY for a few years, then moved to Charleston, SC and worked as a legal secretary and later as a real estate agent. She returned to Bradford and worked as the Administrative Assistant for Harvey Golubock at A.R.G. until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church. Susan was an avid reader and knitting enthusiast. She belonged to the knitting group at The Bradford Public Library and participated in 'One Book Bradford.' She thoroughly enjoyed arranging parties and gatherings for her friends. She is survived by a sister, Cay Anderson and several cousins, all in Florida. She was precede

Man Charged for September Rape

A rape back in September has landed a Fredonia man in jail. After finishing their investigation, sheriff’s deputies arrested 21-year-old Nicholas Mooney and charged him for rape and committing criminal sexual act. He was taken to jail in lieu of bail. Ripley Meth Lab Dismantled

A traffic stop led to the discovery of a meth lab in Ripley, New York. The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force says 48-year-old John Rowicki III was stopped on Route 20 Friday night, and was subsequently arrested for selling meth to a task force agent. The investigation revealed a meth lab at Rowicki’s home. A HazMat team was called to the scene to dismantle the lab and secure all the toxic ingredients. Besides the drug charges, Rowicki is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He’s in Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

High Speed Chase in Smethport

A Cyclone man is accused of taking police on a high-speed chase Sunday morning in Smethport. Police say the chase started at about 1:45 a.m. It ended on Route 646, where they arrested 26-yea-rold Matthew Braund. Besides a charged of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, he is charged with reckless endangerment, careless driving, driving without a license and a couple of traffic violations. Crash Knocks Out Power on West Washington

One person was reportedly injured in a crash at around 10 o’clock last night on West Washington Street near its intersection with Gilbert Lane. A car went out of control while rounding a sharp curve on the icy road and hit a utility pole, knocking out power to the area. Woman Hurt in Route 219 Crash

Emergency personnel had to free a woman from her car after it crashed on Route 219 Saturday night. Police say the car driven by 34-year-old Natasha Gliha of Bradford was traveling in the southbound passing lane near the Seaward Avenue on-ramp when it went out of control at hit a guardrail at a high rate of speed. She was taken to BRMC for treatment of her injuries. The car was severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Police are continuing their investigation. Cyclone Man Charged After Crash

After his pickup truck got stuck in a snowbank early Sunday morning, A Cyclone man was charged with DUI and possession of a prohibited weapon. Police say 38-year-old Kevin Roberts was turning from Route 646 onto Bingham Road when the pickup got stuck in the three-foot snowbank. Police didn’t say what kind of weapon Roberts had. Man Turns Himself In to City Police

A man police were looking for following a crash that damaged two houses turned himself in on Sunday. Police say an SUV driven by 38-year-old Matthew Herron of Bradford went out of control Thursday night on School Street and hit the porch of a house, then a water spigot, causing a water leak. The SUV then hit another house, damaging it as well. When Herron was leaving the scene, he backed into a fence, causing more damage. Charges are pending. Man Hurt in South Kendall Crash

A Bradford man suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash Saturday night on South Kendall Avenue. Bradford City Police say they saw a Jeep being driven erratically in and out of the travel lane at a high rate of speed, and without taillights. The officer turned around to look for the vehicle and learned it had gone off the road on a curve, hit a guardrail and rolled down an embankment, where it hit several trees. Emergency personnel had to use the Jaws of Life to free 52-year-old Lloyd Swain II rom the Jeep. He was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC in Buffalo for treatment. The road was closed down for about two hours. Police are continuing their investigation. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

Melvin Bizzarro

Melvin D. Bizzarro, 42, of 23 River St., Bradford, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015. Born February 6, 1972 in Bradford, he was a son of David Bizzarro of Bradford and Julie (Gum) Day of Port Orange Fl. On June 12, 1993 in St. Bernard Church, he married Michelle R. (Stidd) Bizzarro who survives. He attended Bradford area schools and graduated from Warren High School in 1990. He started working at Togi's Family Restaurant in the early 1990's and after his marriage Mel and Michelle purchased Togi's Family Restaurant. Mel was an avid golfer and golfed in several area leagues. He was a member of the Pennhills Club and the Pine Acres Country Club. He formerly coached Little League Baseball, Midget League Football and Bradford Youth Basketball League. Surviving in addition to his wife, is one daughter, Melanie Bizzarro, of Pittsburgh, one son, Vincenzo "Vinnie" Bizzarro, of Bradford, two sisters, Melissa (Kevin) Winter, of Prosper TX, and Jo
