Bradford High’s Mark Havers lost to Chance Marsteller of Kennard-Dale in York County 9-4 tonight in the PIAA Class Triple A wrestling championships in Hershey. I think most of us can agree that we're very proud of Mark and that watching him wrestle over the last few years has been very exciting. Bradford High’s Mark Havers beat Geno Morelli of DuBois 5-2 in the semi-finals of the PIAA state wrestling championships this morning in Hershey. Havers goes for the state title tonight against Chance Marsteller of Kennard-Dale (York County). Marsteller entered the tournament undefeated at 38-0. Havers was 35-2 coming in to the tournament. It only took Bradford High's Mark Havers 14 seconds to pin West Allegheny's Aaron McKinney in the quarterfinals of the PIAA wrestling championships in Hershey this afternoon. He now moves on to the semi-finals, where he takes on Geno Morelli of DuBois. Good luck, Mark, from all of us at WESB and The HERO!

Mark Havers lost today in the opening round of the PIAA wrestling championships in Hershey. Chichester's Bobby Scheivert scored an overtime takedown over Havers to win 8-6.

The Bradford Owls won the Hickory Wrestling Tournament over the weekend. The Owls had two champions with Mark Havers and Jake McMurtrie both going 6-0. Evan Smith placed second with a 6-2 record. Zach Britton placed second with a 7-1 record and Zach Smith placed second with a 7-1 record too. For details on tournament scoring, click here .

By ANNE HOLLIDAY WESB/WBRR News Director Federal stimulus money may mean a new fitness center for the Bradford Area School District. School District Superintendent Sandra Romanowski explained during Monday's school board meeting that $581,500 in stimulus money is proposed for modernization (construction projects). The shifting of other funding will save the district $382,380 to support capital projects. Romanowski said the stimulus money "allows us do to many creative things within school district and to assist us with our budget." She said one of the most exciting things is taking four teachers – one from each building – to become a math coach. The coaches would work with Romanowski and the Intermediate Unit on developing a curriculum for pre-K through grade 12 that would address and better look at accountability where math is concerned in the district. Long-term substitutes would take the places of the math coaches for one year. Among the other things the stimulus money...
