Sosic Gets Probation

Former Bradford OB/GYN Abaz Sosic will be on probation for nearly two years. He was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court after pleading guilty back in June to indecent assault for having inappropriate contact with a an employee in January and a patient in June of 2012. Sosic Pleads Guilty

Dr. Abaz Sosic has pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault. The former Bradford OB/GYN admitted to touching an employee and a patient inappropriately and making inappropriate statements to the employee. One of the incidents happened in January; the other in June of 2012. Because the charges carry Megan’s restrictions, Sosic will have to undergo a sexually violent predator evaluation before his sentencing, which is scheduled for September 19 in McKean County Court. Dr, Pena Moving to Interstate Parkway Office

Rhonda Pena, MD, a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, will relocate her offices from Boylston Street to Bradford Regional Medical Center’s Women’s Health Services location at 159 Interstate Parkway, Bradford on Wednesday, June 4. She joins Aris Gredzens, MD, OBGYN, and Kimberly Garcia, Certified Nurse Midwife in the Foothills Medical Group at the Interstate Parkway location. Last month, Dr. Pena assumed the care of patients in the office of Abaz Sosic, MD., 54 Boylston Street, Bradford. Following the move the current office phone number, 814-362-9733, will automatically forward to Dr. Pena’s new office. Patients may also call 814-368-7777. Her office will be closed from May 27 to June 3 during the transition. Dr. Pena formerly practiced at Memorial Hospital, York, PA and Clearfield Hospital, Clearfield, PA. Sosic Charges Bound to Court

Indecent assault and harassment charges against Dr. Abaz Sosic have been bound to McKean County Court following a preliminary hearing this morning. The hearing was originally scheduled for next Wednesday, but was held at 10 a.m. today in front of District Judge Dominic Cercone, according to information obtained by WESB. Sosic is accused of inappropriately touching an intern in his office in January and a patient in 2012. He is also accused of making inappropriate comments to them. Sosic Hearing Set for Thursday

UPDATE: Hearing moved to April 9. Dr. Abaz Sosic was arraigned this morning on charges of indecent assault and harassment. Sosic is accused of inappropriately touching an intern in his office last month and a patient in 2012. He is also accused of making inappropriate comments to them. Although members of an online group supporting Sosic had planned on showing their support in person this morning in front of District Judge Dominic Cercone’s office, none of them showed up, mostly because of the weather. Sosic's Medical License Temporarily Suspended

Based on information in the indecent assault cases against Dr. Abaz Sosic the state board of medicine has temporarily suspended his license to practice medicine. In the suspension order dated Friday, and obtained this afternoon by WESB, the board said if the petition filed by Department of State attorney David Grubb is true “the continued practice of medicine by (Sosic) presents an immediate danger to the public health and safety.” A preliminary hearing regarding the suspension will be scheduled within 30 days. The order says that addition to the temporary suspension proceeding Grubb may start a separate action to suspend, revoke or otherwise restrict Sosic’s license. The Order to Show Cause for that may include, but is not limited to, facts alleged in the petition for temporary suspension. Sosic is accused of indecent assault and harassment in two separate cases. Admitting Privileges Suspended at BRMC

Bradford obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Abaz Sosic has been accused of indecent assault against three women – an intern in his office, a co-worker at Bradford Regional Center and a patient. Because of the allegations BRMC has suspended Sosic’s admitting privileges, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the investigation. City police have also requested a search warrant for the hospital. In an affidavit of probable cause asking for the search warrant, police say they “believe there exists enough evidence to show that there are documents and records located at Bradford Regional Medical Center which will show a common plan or scheme. ... this documentation will provide further evidence showing a pattern of Sosic’s misconduct while working at Bradford Regional Medical Center.” The allegations, which date back to 2008, first came to light on Wednesday when police filed misdemeanor charges of indecent assault and harassment against Sosic in connection to an alleged incident on...

Additional Charges Filed Against Sosic

Additional charges of indecent assault and harassment have been filed against the Bradford doctor charged yesterday with making lewd comments to and inappropriately touching his intern. According to papers filed today in District Judge Dominic Cercone’s office Bradford City Police received a report on Saturday, June 16, 2012, regarding an indecent assault against a patient that occurred at the office of Dr. Abaz Sosic. The woman said that after an examination Sosic hugged her, attempted to kiss her, placed his hand on her buttocks, grabbed her breast and attempted to put his hand down the front of her pants.
