St. Bonaventure University alumnus Dr. Robert Kochersberger, ’72, will appear on Jeopardy! on Monday, April 28. The quiz show airs locally at 7:30 p.m. on WIVB (Channel 4 in Buffalo). Kochersberger, associate professor of English at North Carolina State University, graduated from St. Bonaventure in 1972 with a degree in journalism. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. Kochersberger has been teaching journalism at N.C. State since 1986. He is an expert on muckraker Ida Tarbell and routinely writes for the Raleigh News & Observer. He has also been a Fulbright professor in Yugoslavia, Thailand, Egypt and Slovenia. For fun, he is a private pilot. In the 1970s, Kochersberger worked as a reporter at The Post-Journal in Jamestown and then at The Daily Press in Binghamton. Portville Police have learned the identity of a man who couldn't remember his name or where he was from. Police haven't released the man's name, but did say he is from Johnsonburg. Police say they spoke with family members who identified him and will pick him up in Olean. WIVB-TV is reporting that the family member saw the man's picture at WIVB.com , and then contacted police.

WIVB-TV reporter and anchor Mylous Hairston suffered a mild heart attack over the weekend and had to have two surgeries to open an artery. He is now recuperating, and expects to be released from the hospital tomorrow or Saturday, and back on the air in a couple of weeks. WIVB-TV I met him during the Holy Family "Virgin Mary Sighting" days. Very nice man.

This is one of my favorite Stupid Pet Tricks of all time. I think it's because Bailey reminds me of my dog, Beebe. Beebe

Binghamton gunman Jiverly Voong sent a letter to a Binghamton TV station Friday, the day he killed 13 people and himself. The station received the letter Monday. For more, go to News 10 .

Mike Cejka. While WESB and HERO listeners have been able to hear Mike for the last couple of months, WIVB viewers haven't been able to see him. He hasn't been on Channel 4 since he fell on some ice and broke his ankle on February 1. He tells us he expects to be ready for "Wake Up!" at 5 a.m. Tuesday -- just in time for an April snowstorm.

St. Bonaventure University’s Russell J. Jandoli School of Journalism and Mass Communication named senior Jennifer Sherman as the recipient of the 2009 Dr. Mary A. Hamilton Woman of Promise Award. St. Bonaventure’s Woman of Promise Award is presented to a female senior who excels in and out of the classroom and sets a good example for her peers. Sherman, a double major in journalism and mass communication and political science, is involved with several on- and off-campus activities and has worked in several prestigious internships, including at The White House. The awards presentation will be at 4 p.m. March 19 in Walsh Auditorium of the William F. Walsh Science Center. Janet Bodnar, ’71, editor of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine, will serve as the keynote speaker. WIVB-TV in Buffalo has been showing a video of Captain Joseph Zuffoletto, who died in the crash of Flight 3407. In that video, along with Zuffoletto, are Bradford Regional Airport Manager Tom Frungillo, former McKean County Commissioner Cliff Lane, Olean Times Herald reporter, and Bradford resident, Kate Day Sager and several other McKean County residents.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo man has undergone brain surgery and is in critical condition after police say he was struck by a city plow. Investigators say the driver of that plow was drunk.
