The First Wesleyan Church of Bradford will be giving away 50 free movie tickets to this Monday’s showing of the film “Heaven is for Real” at the Bradford Main Street Movie House at 5:30 p.m. The tickets will be given away to the first 50 people to show up to see the film. The inspirational movie “Heaven is for Real” is the story of 3-year-old Colton Burpo who died and went to Heaven. Upon his return he tells is parents of his experiences and of meeting relatives that he had no knowledge of. This event is part of the First Wesleyan Church’s outreach program to get people to start thinking about God, Heaven, and religion in general. Main Street Movie House owner Todd Hennard worked with the First Wesleyan Church to bring the Film “God's Not Dead to the theater a few weeks ago. Bradford City Council on Tuesday honored Judge Chris Hauser, who is leaving his position as chairman of the Downtown Bradford Redevelopment Corporation. Under his leadership, the DBRC established the Main Street Mercantile, renovated the Main Street Movie House and other key buildings in the Downtown Historic District, and returned them to private ownership. Hauser had been chairman of the DBRC since its inception. He stepped down after being elected judge in the McKean County Court of Common Pleas. Also Tuesday, council approved a change order for the new fire truck for the city fire department. Councilman Rhett Kennedy explained that the truck is necessary because the one it’s replacing is more than 30 years old. The next “newest” truck is 16 years old, he said, adding that the normal life of a fire truck is 10 years. The Bradford Main Street Movie House released a statement concerning the shooting at a Colorado movie theater early Friday morning. It says, Dipson Theatres join all the members and staff of the National Association of Theatre Owners, our hearts and prayers go out to the victims of this despicable act and their families. They add that they are grateful for the quick and effective response by police and emergency personnel. Guest safety is, and will continue to be a priority for theater owners, and they are working closely with local law enforcement agencies and reviewing security procedures.
