The 13th annual Bradford Area Town Wide Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, May 31, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Bradford area. Registration forms are available at the Tin Ceiling Gift Shoppe, 51 Main Street, Bradford, and the Main Street Outlet, 90 Main Street, Bradford. Individuals or organizations can register. There is a fee to participate. The deadline to register is Wednesday, May 14. Participants will receive a yard sale sign and their location will be included in the Bradford Area Town Wide Garage Sale map which will be distributed the week prior to the event. All registrants will be responsible for their own set up at their location, as well as the placement and removal of yard signs. Steve Cavallaro made that statement to Bradford City Council on behalf of himself and several other downtown business owners who are fed up with loitering, bad language, bicycle and skateboard riding on sidewalks, and other types of bad behavior. Cavallaro of Cavallaro Paint and Decorating; Kathy Obermeyer of Real Living Avista Properties; Todd Hennard, owner of the Main Street Mercantile and other buildings; and Nancy Graham, owner of The Tin Ceiling Gift Shoppe, presented council with a proposal that they hope would transfer control back to the business owners and their customers. “We don’t even feel like we have any control over what’s going on downtown, yet we’re the ones paying the lion’s share …” he said, adding that they would like to see more police foot patrols, and enforce the ordinances that are already in the books. “It’s getting ridiculous with kids...

By ANNE HOLLIDAY WESB/WBRR News Director All three of Thursday’s Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce award recipients could have won the Community and Spirit Award because they all exemplify what it means to work for something you believe in, and to make Bradford a better place. Steve Cavallaro received the actual Community and Spirit Award for his work to restore and revitalize the Willow Dale Duck Pond. The Tin Ceiling Gift Shoppe received the Exemplary Business Award. Madeline Miles received the Directors Award for her tireless efforts in activities throughout the area. In accepting his award, Cavallaro thanked the many people who donated time, money and talent to help make his dream come true. He singled out Howard Fesenmyer who, Cavallaro said, does every day for the community what he did for the duck pond. He also thanked Russ Safran, who donated the pavilion and bridge in memory of his wife, Kristin, who died in the crash of Flight 3407 in Clarence Center in 2009. On a lighter not...
