Big 30 Elects New Officers

Frank Williams has been elected president of the Don Raabe Big 30 Charities Classic Committee for the 2014 All Star Football Game to be played August 2 at Parkway Field in Bradford. Williams succeeds Bill Kleinberger. Following Williams in the office of Vice President will be Craig Funk of Smethport, who is a former player in the Big 30 game. Re-elected to the offices of secretary and treasurer are Bob South and Tom Bowes, respectively. The new officers’ terms begin with the regular monthly meeting December 11. Don Raabe Charities Giveaway Day

CNB Bank on Main Street hosted the annual Charities Day to distribute funds raised by the 39th Don Raabe Charities Big 30 Football Classic played August 4th at Parkway Field. More than 30 charities and individuals received a share of the games’ proceeds. Among those recipients were the PA Veterans Association, Camp JJ, Destinations, Comfort House, Go Action Unity, Patients of Job, Camp New Horizons, Evergreen Elm, Giggles for Gideon, Twin Tier Pregnancy Fund, The ELF Fund and Habitat for Humanity. More than $11,500 was distributed on Saturday bringing the total given over the 39 years of the game to about 1.6 million dollars. Additional donations were made prior to Saturday’s give away as a result of emergency requests. Danny Rinfrette and Justin Quiggle, players from the 2012 game and students at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford assisted at the event by distributing checks to recipients.
