Bradford Regional Medical Center has announced that Family Nurse Practioner Judy Flynn, CRNP, will be the primary care provider for the hospital’s newly constructed Mt. Jewett Health Center located at 122 West Main Street in Mount Jewett, PA. Flynn obtained her Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practioner from the State University of New York at Buffalo and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Flynn is an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor and serves on the Disaster Medical Assistance Team PA-3, a branch of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. McKean County Commissioners plan to adopt a Marcellus Shale impact fee. During their meeting Tuesday commissioners said a copy of the proposed ordinance will be on display in the county clerk’s office in Smethport. The legislation Governor Tom Corbett signed into law earlier this month gave counties 60 days to opt in to the plan that would make them eligible to receive money from fees imposed on deep-well drillers. A Weedville woman is in jail after allegedly pointing a gun at a man during an argument over the weekend. Police say 44-year-old Annette Shutters pointed the gun at 64-year-old Simon Shutters and threatened him. Annette Shutters was charged with terroistic threats and sent to Elk County Prison. A bigger sewage treatment plant won’t solve the problems with the area sewage system. Engineer Andy Jantzer told Bradford City Council during a work session that no matter how big the plant is, it can’t fix the inflow and infiltration problems. “If you expand the plant you’re still going to have system overflows unless you do more with the system,” Jantzer said. “It’s not just a plant issue. It’s a system issue.” “What can you do? You either expand your system from the plant up and make everything bigger, or you try to reduce your (problems) in the system.” The cost of expanding the plant is estimated at $23 million. An Elk County woman kept herself busy at the St. Marys Wal-Mart for about a week. 46-year-old Suzanne Catalone of St. Marys is accused of shoplifting from the store from February 19 through this past Monday. All the thefts happened between about 12:30 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. She’s charged with eight counts of retail theft and police say more charges are pending. Authorities are treating the death of a Salamanca woman as an unnatural death investigation. During a news conference Tuesday Cattaraugus County Sheriff Timothy Whitcomb said the death of 45-Traci Douglas could have been an accident or suicide but, more than likely, foul play was involved. Douglass’ remains were found in 2009 in the Allegany Reservoir but weren’t positively identified until earlier this week. She was last seen in Salamanca in January of 2007. Whitcomb said since Douglass’ name was released to the media Monday his department has received numerous leads they are pursuing. WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) sent a letter to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta today asking him to clarify if any remains from the Pentagon and United Flight 93 were cremated and disposed of in a landfill. According to a Washington Post report today, small amounts of unidentified remains from Shanksville, Pa., the site of the United Flight 93 crash, and the Pentagon were cremated and then sent to a landfill for disposal. However, Somerset County (Pa.) Coroner Wallace Miller told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review today that no remains from United Flight 93 were ever sent to a military mortuary for disposal. “The heroic passengers on United Flight 93 gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, and their families deserve to know the fate of their remains. It is critically important that we get to the bottom of this matter, clear up any remaining doubts, and ensure that those responsible for any mishandling of remains be held accountable,” Sen. A Tonawanda man is dead after being hit by a train while rabbit hunting in the Town of Portland this morning. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies say 67-year-old Giovanni Faso was with four other people who were hunting in brush near railroad tracks when a freight train was approaching. The train sounded its horn and Faso’s hunting companion yelled to him to get off the tracks, but he didn’t move. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A new educational program focused on preventing prescription drug abuse among middle and high school students was launched today during two assemblies in the Mechanicsburg School District, Cumberland County. Attorney General Linda Kelly (pictured) said the program, known as "Consequences: Rx Abuse," will educate students, parents and teachers across the state about the dangers of prescription drugs and the lasting consequences it can have on teens and kids. As we reported this morning, rumors of a student with a gun at Fretz Middle School turned out to be just that -- rumors. Police believe one student overheard another student talking about a gun and texted parents about it, and the rumor spread. Police say, just to be safe, they searched the area around the school and nearby St. Francis of Assisi Church to make sure there was no gun. A city police officer was searching the bushes in front of the church while speaking with WESB and The Hero at just before 9:30 a.m. Students were on lockdown until just after 11 a.m. while the investigation was going on. School District Human Resources Director Sam Johnson tells WESB and The HERO that everything is back to normal at the school. Police did question a student. A third victim of Monday’s school shooting in Chardon, Ohio, has died, according to a statement from MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Demetrius Hewlin died Tuesday morning, his family said in a statement released by the hospital. Student Russell King Jr., 17, was declared brain dead early Tuesday, according to the medical examiner's office, and student Daniel Parmertor died on Monday. Two other students remain hospitalized. The suspect in Monday's shooting at Chardon High School will likely face charges as an adult, the state attorney general said Tuesday. For continuing coverage go to CNN.com . A 68-year-old man is dead after being hit by a train this morning in the Chautauqua County town of Portland. Sheriff’s deputies say the man was walking on the tracks while hunting rabbits. A friend reportedly yelled at him to get off the tracks but he apparently didn’t hear the friend. The man’s name has not been released yet. We’ll have more information as it becomes available. A South Dayton, New York, woman has been sentenced to eight years’ probation after pleading guilty to fraudulently receiving nearly $8,300 in public assistance. 31-year-old Michelle Rogers received the daycare assistance fraudulently when she failed to notify the Department of Social Services that she was using daycare providers other than the provider approved by the department between August of 2010 and May of 2011. Three Olean residents have been sentenced in Cattaraugus County Court for attempting to sell drugs in Olean. 21-year-old Brennan Smith will spend a year in prison for attempting to sell a controlled substance in February of last year. 31-year-old Jermaine Crawford was sentenced to one-and-a-half years in prison for attempting to sell a narcotic drug on July 28, 2010. 38-year-old Henry Donaldson Jr. will spend a year-and-a-half in prison for attempting to sell crack cocaine on November 13, 2010. A Salamanca man has been sentenced as a predicate felony offender to one-and-a-half years in state prison on drug charges. David Dille pleaded guilty in Cattaraugus County Court to a felony count of possession of marijuana. On August 11, 2011, in Salamanca, he had more than 8 ounces of pot. An Olean man who injured an employee at Olean General Hospital who was treating him has been sentenced to a year in jail. 42-year-old Daniel Richter assaulted the person on August 4. He pleaded guilty to third-degree assault. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A Salamanca man has pleaded guilty in Cattaraugus County Court to attempted burglary. 22-year-old Joseph Duhan broke into a Great Valley home on April 28 of last year and stole several items. He will be sentenced April 30. His co-defendant Travis Gilbert of Salamanca pleaded guilty last week and will be sentenced May 14. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

An Olean man who was released from prison Friday is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a public restroom at the Olean Center Mall on Sunday. Police say 31-year-old Spencer Golden followed a woman into the restroom, forced her against a wall and forcibly touched her. The woman screamed for help and Golden ran from the restroom. He was later picked up by police and charged with unlawful imprisonment, sexual compulsion and forcible touching. He had been in an Elmira prison on a burglary charge.
