A Warren woman is accused of hiding her girlfriend, who had escaped from jail. Police say 24-year-old Kimberly Harrison harbored 26-year-old Janelle Stoner, who had an active warrant for her arrest after escaping from the Community Corrections Facility in Reading back in May. Stoner has a lengthy arrest record dating back to 2005 for offenses including robbery, forgery and theft in three counties. Harrison has previous theft and forgery convictions. Pennsylvania Crimestoppers is looking for help in finding a Jefferson County man wanted on drug charges. 27-year-old Wade Petrillo, whose last known address was in Reynoldsville, was allegedly involved in illegal distribution of Oxycodone back in April of last year. Police say he conspired with other people to distribute and sell controlled substances. Petrillo is known to frequent Brockway, DuBois, Falls Creek and Clarion. Anyone with information on Petrillo’s whereabouts is asked to call Pennsylvania Crimestoppers toll free at 1-800-4PA-TIPS. All callers remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward. This week Pitt-Bradford is holding a Pets ‘n’ Vets camp for children who have completed Grades 1-6. Attached is a feature photo you might be interested in using. The students have had visits from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, dogs of many breeds, cats, ferrets and hedgehogs and made birdhouses and dog biscuits. A 22-year-old man is accused of stabbing his half-brother to death and dumping his body along a dirt road on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. Cody Testerman is charged with second degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Jesse Seneca. Testerman pleaded not guilty Tuesday in North Collins Town Court. Deputies say more charges could be pending. Testerman is jailed without bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A cold front extending from Massachusetts through southern New York and northern Ohio this morning will get to the Twin Tiers by late this morning or early this afternoon, and will trigger thunderstorms as it hits the warm, humid and unstable airmass that’s been hanging over the region. A Salamanca man has pleaded guilty to an unprovoked attack on a woman that sent her to the hospital. 24-year-old Allen Larkin Jr. attacked the woman in the early morning hours of December 11 on Messenger Street in Salamanca. Police did not say what kind of weapon Larkin used, but did say the assault was unprovoked. The woman was taken to Olean General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Larkin, who is already in Cattaraugus County Jail, will be sentenced on October 1. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

BUFFALO, NY — Officials at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) applauded New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for signing into law a measure that delays the age at which state residents can begin to expose themselves to indoor tanning. Gov. Cuomo signed the legislation, which bans the use of ultraviolet (UV) radiation devices by those 16 and under, today. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Jamestown police say they were on patrol at 4 o’clock Sunday morning when they drove up on a robbery taking place. They saw two suspicious people in the area of Falconer and Bowen streets and learned that 22-year-old Brandon Sparks of Jamestown had just robbed another man at knifepoint. Sparks had the victim’s cash and a necklace. He was charged with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property and was sent to Chautauqua County Jail. The victim was not hurt. The United Way of the Bradford Area is now accepting requests for proposals (RFP) for the 2012-2013 campaign solicitation. Any non-profit 501(c)(3) health and human service organization that would like to apply for funding must submit an application by 4:00 pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. The applications are divided among Community Essential and Community Building organizations. Community Essential programs or organizations are such that provide direct services for food, shelter, clothing, health, emergency services and protection from abuse/violence; Community Building programs respond to community needs and issues. A third category of funding, Community Innovations, supports quarterly grants of up to $1,500 for programs independent of agency funding, but those with the potential to impact the local community. Rainbow Corner Preschool, part of CARE for Children, will be hosting its annual Preschool Fun Camp from Monday, August 6 through Thursday, August 9 at its Russell Boulevard location. Children aged three to five years are welcome to participate in the camp, which will promote school readiness and summer play for preschoolers or children about to enter Kindergarten. There will be activities focusing specifically on nature, outdoor and structured play and socialization skills, and weather permitting there will be water play, as well. This year’s camp activities will be sponsored in part by the Zonta Club of Bradford. The children do not need to be enrolled at Rainbow Corner Preschool to attend the camp. Richard L. Rovito Sr., 83, of 46 Melvin Ave., Bradford, passed away peacefully, Sunday July 15, 2012 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Hamot in Erie. Born Jan. 10, 1929, in Bradford, he was the son of Fiore and Rose Marie (Nepher) Rovito. On May 11, 1963, in Bradford, he married Mary Ethlyn Morton, who survives. A 1947 graduate of Bradford Area High School, Mr. Rovito worked at Bovaird & Seyfang Manufacturing Co. in Bradford and Dresser-Clark and Dresser-Rand in Olean, N.Y., for more than 40 years combined. He worked as a machinist and later as a raw material analyst. He enlisted in the United States Army on November 13, 1950 and served in Germany until he was honorably discharged on October 28, 1952. Upon retirement, he and his wife operated a home day-care center and have been adored by many area children. He was highly active in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life program. A bicycle ride helped to land a Gowanda man in jail. State troopers say 36-year-old Gerald Redford II was riding his bike on Union Street in Gowanda when they stopped him to talk about an incident earlier in the day in Collins. While speaking with Redford, troopers felt he was impaired and soon learned he had more than 70 Oxycodone pills in a plastic baggie. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell, both felonies, and sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $1,500 cash bail. A tanker truck that tipped over Monday morning kept a Tioga County road closed for several hours and sent a Ulysses man to the hospital. Police say 35-year-old John Taylor was on Route 287 at around 9 a.m. when the truck went off the berm and, when he tried to get back onto the road he over compensated and the truck tipped over, spilling diesel fuel onto the road. A South Dayton man is facing charges for driving his garden tractor while intoxicated. 62-year-old Robert Scott was allegedly driving the tractor on Route 322 in the Town of Dayton Saturday night. He is charged with felony driving while intoxicated and driving an unregistered motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Dayton Court. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

Three people have been arrested on drug charges in Olean. Danee Ellis of Olean, Tarah Lyons of Portville and Kyle Johnson of Buffalo were picked up early Monday morning in a disabled vehicle on Route 16 near McDuffy Road, where sheriff’s deputies found marijuana, several individually wrapped packages of crack cocaine and heroin as well as drug paraphernalia. Ellis was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and sent to jail on $60,000 bail. Lyons is charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She is jailed on $1,000. Ellis was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and released. All three are scheduled to appear in Town of Olean Court on Thursday. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

The St. Marys Police Department and Crystal Fire Department are addressing concerns about the recent arson fires in the area. They are urging people to report any suspicious activity or people in their neighborhoods, and are also urging them to use motion sensor lighting on their property. Authorities are also asking neighbors to look out for each other. They add that people should not hesitate to call police about anything that appears out of place, or to report any information they may have heard about the fires. Three fires in St. Marys this month have been ruled arson. A fourth is still under investigation. Arson fires have also been reported in Johnsonburg and Ridgway. A Bradford man has been charged with harassment for allegedly calling an employee at the McKean County Courthouse more than 50 times. State police say Dennis Ordiway called the victim at various times between February 21 and Friday. Charges have been field with District Judge Bill Todd in Smethport. The Sullivan Road Bridge that PennDOT expected to re-open earlier this month will now be closed until at least July 25. This is the second time this month PennDOT has had to move the re-opening date. Crews are working to repair the steel beams of the bridge, after a recent inspection showed the bridge was structurally deficient. The Interstate Parkway detour remains in place.
